Judge upholds driving charges against Britney Spears

A Los Angeles judge has refused to drop charges against Britney Spears of drive without a valid license.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James A. Steele upheld the charges at a hearing on Tuesday (September 2) in which her attorney argued that prosecutors were targeting the pop star because she is a celebrity.

Steele disagreed, locution she was correctly charged because she'd been driving without a valid California license later on being a resident of the state for 17 months. California law requires application for a state license inside 10 days of becoming a resident.


The charges stem from an incident in 2007 in which Spears hit a parked railway car and left without notifying the proprietor. She was originally cited for tip-and-run and driving without a license, merely the hit-and-run charges were dropped.


The judge's latest opinion means the pop star will likely go to trial in October, reports the Associated Press.

Mischa Barton launches handbag collection in London

The range, inspired by the vintage finds the former 'O.C.' actress sourced on her travels, hits UK stores John Lewis, Debenhams and Fenwicks on July 2nd.


According to Elle magazine, the collection features leather, snakeskin and fabric bags all finished with a flower logo hand drawn by Mischa.


"Mischa has always loved fashion," her rep said Wednesday, "and especially handbags, which is why she jumped at the chance of creating her own line with a team of designers."
